France Again Considering Class Actions
Six months after the French government withdrew a bill that would have permitted class action-style lawsuits in France, new President Nicolas Sarkozy reportedly instructed Economy Minister Christine Lagarde to create a "French class action" in cooperation with Luc Chatel, deputy minister for consumer affairs. According to this article from AFP, President Sarkozy issued that instruction on Wednesday of last week, reviving the project that had been shelved by the previous administration.
